Hörmann Industries , based in Kirchseeon in Bavaria, is a German group of companies and the industrial subgroup of Hörmann Holding GmbH & Co. KG.

The company has four business areas: Automotive (automotive supplier), Engineering , Communication and Services . The division with the highest turnover by far is automotive .

history

The company was founded in 1955 by Hans Hörmann as an engineering office for lightning protection systems. In 1965 the company expanded its portfolio to include siren technology. As one of the suppliers for the Federal Office for Civil Protection in Bonn , the company Hans Hörmann has become the market leader for warning systems. Electrical installations during the construction of the new Volkswagen plant in Salzgitter are the starting point for entering the industrial technology sector. In 1989, through contacts in the GDR, Hörmann Barkas GmbH was founded in Chemnitz, which grew from 40 to 200 employees in a short period of time.

In 2017, Hörmann Finance was renamed Hörmann Industries.

Group structure

Automotive division

Automotive generated sales of € 375 million in the 2017 financial year. The operating sites are Kirchseeon, Gustavsburg (formerly MAN plant Gustavsburg ), Penzberg , Sankt Wendel , Saarbrücken , Wackersdorf , Ebersbach an der Fils and Bielefeld . In 2016, the location in Bánovce nad Bebravou in the Czech Republic was added and the plant in Penzberg is to be closed.

In the various plants, different pressed and stamped parts for the vehicle construction industry (cars, trucks, agricultural machines) are produced. For example, the plant in Sankt Wendel is an important supplier of body parts for agricultural machinery from John Deere , Claas and New Holland .

Engineering division

Engineering, the third largest division, comprises nine subsidiaries that are active in the areas of industrial design, vehicle development, plant, building and factory planning and logistics conception. In 2017 it accounted for 6% of sales.

Communication division

This division produces and sells solutions in information, communication and safety technology for rail transport, among other things . The largest subsidiary is Funkwerk AG , based in Kölleda . With sales of EUR 92 million, the division has an 18% share of total sales.

Services division

This division was only founded in 2017. It is intended to summarize the group-wide service activities and also take into account aspects such as Industry 4.0 , automation and electromobility . It was expanded in the fourth quarter of 2017 with the takeover of the MAT Group from Salzgitter and in 2017 it accounted for 4% of sales.
