The Hörnum was a sea rescue boat (SRB) of the 9-meter class of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS).
The Hörnum , known internally as KRST 27 in DGzRS, was built in 1977 by the Schweers shipyard in Bardenfleth under construction number 6436 and christened in Hörnum on the island of Sylt in October 1977 .
The name was given at the request of the state of Schleswig-Holstein , which had provided 400,000 marks for the construction of the boat .
Technical Equipment
The lifeboat was equipped with radio systems, echo sounder, radar , color chart plotter, DGPS , external bilge pump and a salvage port.
Stationings
From October 1977 to December 1999 the boat was stationed in Hörnum . After a short break, the Hörnum was relocated on May 6, 2000 to the Prerow / Wieck station in the Wieck harbor, where the boat was stationed until autumn 2005.
Decommissioning and sale
In February 2006 the boat was shipped to Uruguay on the deck of the Monte Rosa container ship , where it was handed over to the local sea rescue service “Asociación Honoraria de Salvamentos Marítimos y Fluviales” ( ADES ). It succeeds the now decommissioned former daughter boat of the rescue cruiser Ruhr-Stahl Tünnes . Both the ex-sea rescue cruiser Ruhr-Stahl and the daughter boat were sold to the sea rescue service in 1985.
