The narrow-drug Valerian ( Valeriana wallrothii ), also called Hill valerian referred to, is a plant from the genus of valerians ( Valeriana ).
description
Narrow-leaved medicinal valerian is a perennial , herbaceous plant that usually reaches heights of between 40 and 100 cm. It has subterranean runners and is single-stemmed. The mostly hairy stem has three to seven nodes . The middle stem leaves usually have eight to 12 entire or slightly toothed pinna. The terminal leaflet is at most as wide as the lateral leaflets. Most of the leaves are hairy on the underside more or less densely. The longest petiole has a length in the range of 0.5 to 7 cm. The pink flowers are two to five mm long. The fruit is two to 3.6 mm long. The species blooms mainly in May and June.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28.
Location and distribution
The Basenholde species grows on semi-arid grassland, in ruderal areas, in sparse mixed deciduous forests and especially their borders. It occurs in societies of the orders Origanetalia and Quercetalia pubescentis.
In Germany, the narrow-leaved medicinal valerian occurs mainly in the central and southwestern part. In Austria one finds it in the colline to montane area often to scattered.
Taxonomy
The medicinal valerian clans have not yet been adequately researched. Sometimes these are only understood as subspecies. A comprehensive taxonomic processing of the entire family circle and a nomenclature clarification is still pending.
A synonym is Valeriana officinalis ssp. tenuifolia (Vahl) Schübl. et Martens .
