Hürdem Riethmüller (born May 19, 1962 in Munich , formerly Hürdem Gürel ) is a German actress of Turkish descent .

Life

Hürdem Riethmüller was born in Munich as the second daughter of an architect and a sculptor. Her parents from Istanbul had lived in Schwabing since 1955. After spending six months in England, Riethmüller began studying theater studies at the University of Munich. In 1980 she moved to Berlin and completed her acting studies at the Fritz Kirchhoff drama school "Der Kreis" with the stage maturity. In parallel to her training, she played in three productions of the Turkish ensemble under the directorship of Peter Steins, later Luc Bondys, directed by Beklan Algan, Tuncel Kurtiz and Miriam Goldschmidt.

Riethmüller took her first guest engagement in 1985 at the Westphalian State Theater to play the sister of the band leader Cem Karaca and daughter of the strict mother Toto Karaca in the musical production of a partly fictional story by the Turkish-German band "Kanaken" . In addition to theater engagements on various stages, she also played for film and television. In addition to classic roles, your range of roles also includes characters you have developed yourself. During an engagement at the Schauburg, Theater der Jugend München, she developed her own piece as part of the team and received the Thurn and Taxis Prize of the Bavarian Theater Days for the role of Dalila in Dalila's long night . In 2018 she came to Munich, the city of her birth, after almost 30 years for a guest engagement. This time she played at the Münchner Kammerspiele Dr. Alici in the play of the same name by Olga Bach, freely based on Professor Bernhardi and directed by Ersan Mondtag .

Private

Riethmüller lives in Berlin and, in addition to her mother tongues Turkish and German , speaks fluent English and French and also has some knowledge of Italian .

Others

In the meantime, from 2001 onwards, she has been leading an EU-funded long-term project (3 × 3 years) as a lecturer in the team of a socio-educational institution, seminars, workshops and project weeks with theater-pedagogical and artistic content at schools, prisons and in cultural education.
