Hürnheim is a parish village and part of the municipality Ederheim in the district of Donau-Ries in the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria .

location

Hürnheim is located 2 km southeast of Ederheim on the edge of the Nördlinger Ries and at the foot of the Albuch, made famous by the battle of 1634 . The Retzenbach flows through the village and flows into the Eger over the trout stream . On the northern edge of the village, the district road DON 9 touches the place.

history

The first reliable message can be found in a document from the Augsburg bishopric , from which it emerges that a dean Bruno handed over an Auhausen estate to the church of St. Vitus in Hürnheim in 1153 through Rudolf von Hürnheim. The noble lords of Hürnheim , which were undoubtedly very old , had a great reputation for their rich possessions, so that in the Ries they were only inferior to the Counts of Oettingen . The last line of this noble family died out in 1585.

In 1555 Hürnheim was brought into the Reformation by the Protestant line of the House of Oettingen , as was the Carthusian Church, in which the Hürnheim pastor had to hold a service. The St. The church, consecrated to Vitus, dates from the early 15th century in its basic structure and in the lower part of the tower and is entered in the list of monuments.

Former parish

Hürnheim was an independent municipality in the Nördlingen district and is a separate district , which also includes the Reismühle wasteland . As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the place was added to the district of Nördlingen-Donauwörth on July 1, 1972, which has been called the Donau-Ries district since May 1, 1973 , and incorporated into the municipality of Ederheim on May 1, 1978.
