The winter sports resort Les Avants played a pioneering role in establishing ice hockey in Switzerland . Ice hockey has been played in Canada for a long time and British tourists brought this game to Les Avants. At the beginning of the 20th century , Louis Dufour, the owner of the local Grand Hotel, organized ice hockey games between his guests and students from the Bellerive Institute in La Tour-de-Peilz , of which Max Sillig was director. In 1904 the HC Les Avants was founded and the ice hockey league of French-speaking Switzerland , the "Ligue de hockey sur glace de la Suisse romande" , was created together with other clubs that came into being almost at the same time . In 1908 Sillig became the first president of the Swiss ice hockey federation , which was founded in Vevey by the hockey clubs Les Avants, Bellerive Vevey , Caux , Lausanne , Leysin , Servette , La Villa and Villars , all from French-speaking Switzerland .

The 1910 European ice hockey championship was held in Les Avants, the first ever official international tournament for national teams, and the Les Avants ice hockey tournament in 1911 and 1914 .

The Hockey Club Les Avants won the Swiss Ice Hockey Championship in the 1911/12 and 1912/13 seasons , as well as the International Swiss Ice Hockey Championship 1916/17 . After that, the club did not participate in the championship, but championships such as the International Swiss Ice Hockey Championship 1918/19 were held in Les Avants.

Players of the club were u. a. Louis Dufour and Max Sillig .

When tourism collapsed due to the global economic crisis , the association was dissolved.

The natural ice rink was used until the 1990s. A small building that served as a cloakroom is a reminder of the association .
