HD 112758 is a main sequence star in the constellation Virgo, about 69 light years from Earth . With an apparent magnitude of 7.56 mag, it can no longer be seen with the naked eye, even under optimal observation conditions. The star has a spectroscopic companion that is believed to be a red dwarf .
Spectroscopic companion
The originally estimated minimum mass of 35 Jupiter's masses left open the possibility that the companion could be a brown dwarf . However, later investigations with the inclusion of Hipparcos measurements showed that it is most likely a stellar companion. These studies revealed a mass of (0.20 ± 0.04) M ☉ , wherein the minimum mass 3σ within the interval in 0.032 M ☉ lay.
The orbit of the spectroscopic companion has a period of (103.26 ± 0.03) days and an eccentricity of (0.139 ± 0.010).
