history

In the 1991/92 season, the senior citizens of the KHL Zagreb won the first Croatian ice hockey championship after the country gained independence in 1991. The club has been able to repeat this success three times so far. During the War of Independence, the club had interrupted its match practice. From a sporting point of view, this became clear, especially due to the lack of younger players in the subsequent ice hockey championship games. To compensate for this, the club founded the “ZAGI” junior ice hockey school in 1996. The process thus initiated already led to success in the 2007/2008 season. All age groups are fully represented again. A total of 120 ice hockey players, from seniors to cadets, are active at the KHL Zagreb ice hockey club. In addition, the ice hockey club produced a large number of Croatian national ice hockey players. All of the club's younger divisions have since achieved good results. They successfully participated in ice hockey tournaments in Canada , the Czech Republic , Slovakia , Hungary , Austria , Serbia , Italy and Croatia. In the anniversary year 2007 for the 25th anniversary of the club, young ice hockey players were able to win five titles from a total of seven national ice hockey competitions.
