The HMAS Waller (SSG 75) is the third submarine built in the Australian Collins class .

The ship bears the name of the Australian captain Hector Waller . Waller fell during the Battle of Sunda Strait in 1942 .

The submarine was laid down in 1992 in Osborne near Adelaide and put into service in 1999.

In 2008 the Waller took part in the RIMPAC exercise and sank the US destroyer USS Fletcher (DD-992) during the first test of the CBASS version of the Mark 48 heavyweight torpedo .
