The HSG Augustdorf / Hövelhof is a handball community from Lippe with 350 members. The handball club consists of the handball departments of TuSG Augustdorf and HC Hövelhof.

history

The handball community was founded in 1994 and started league gaming in the same year. From the 2002/03 season, the HSG played in the 2nd North Handball League . The promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga is the club's greatest success. In February 2007 the association filed for bankruptcy . The HSG finished the 2006/07 season in last place in the table. It was followed by relegation to the regional league and in the following season, relegation to the league.

At the away game against HSG Handball Lemgo 2 in the Lipperlandhalle on November 5, 2010, a new record in the league was set with 2585 spectators. The HSG won the game with 31:24 (12:13).

Halls

The 1st team of HSG Augustdorf / Hövelhof plays its home games in the Witex hall in Augustdorf. The Witex hall was built in 2002 and has 800 seats and 400 standing places. All other teams play their home games either in Hövelhof or in the Witex hall.

Until the completion of the Witex hall, the home games in Augustdorf were played in the sports hall on Inselweg, which has space for 300 spectators.

At the home games, the HSG is cheered on by the "Die Sandhasen" fan club and the cheerleaders from TuSG Augustdorf.

The 1st team of HSG Augustdorf / Hövelhof played in the 2nd Bundesliga North from 2002 to 2007 and finished the first three seasons with 34:34 points each. In 2003 Diethard von Boenigk replaced the previous coach Heiko Bonath , who ended his career.
