The former Herbert barracks, in which the HTL, the HLW / HLM, the BSH Krems and some apartments are housed.

The Höhere Technische Bundeslehranstalt Krems ( HTBL Krems or HTL Krems for short ) is a higher technical training institute in Krems an der Donau in Lower Austria . There are four higher departments, a technical school and a college. The HTL Krems is located in the former Herbert barracks.

Departments

In the HTL Krems there are three higher technical departments, a technical college for structural engineering and a higher department for information technology . In the technical college for construction technology, carpenters and bricklayers are taught in practical lessons . In IT, at the end of the third grade, a distinction is made again between media and information technology

Training directions

• Building construction: building planning, wood , steel and reinforced concrete construction , etc. a.
• Civil engineering: bridge and tunnel construction , hydraulic engineering , traffic route construction and surveying .
• Timber construction: Structures in timber construction and their connections, construction planning, timber engineering, building physics
• Information technology: programming in the languages C # , Java and assembler , microcontroller programming , database management , media technology and network technology , specialization in AI

Test facility

The test facility at HTL Krems was partly built by students themselves in practical lessons. A wide variety of experiments in the areas of building construction theory and building physics are carried out here. Two buildings with measuring stations, photovoltaic and solar systems, an ice store and test fields are available for this purpose. The plant was built with the help of the companies Schnauer, Rieder, Strabag , Isocal, Svoboda and Immosolar.
