Ha Young Lee (* 1. June 1975 in Seoul ) is one of South Korea originating soprano . The opera singer has been a member of the Hamburg State Opera ensemble since 2005 .

Life

Ha Young Lee studied singing at Yonsei University and the Korean National School of Arts in Seoul. After graduating, she had engagements in Tokyo and Seoul. From 2001 Lee took part in the one-year program of the National Opera Studio in London on a scholarship . She was then accepted into the Young Artist Program of the London Royal Opera House in 2002, where she sang among others the Naiad in Ariadne auf Naxos and Lucia in the Desecration of Lucretia . She was part of the program until 2005. In 2005 she received the Audience Award at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World singing competition . At the beginning of the 2005/2006 season, Simone Young engaged Ha Young Lee as a member of the Hamburg State Opera .

Ha Young Lee's repertoire includes the roles of Olympia in Hoffmann's Tales , Sophie in Rosenkavalier , Adina in Love Potion , Oscar's trouser role in the masked ball , Woglinde in Rheingold , Susanna in Figaro's wedding , the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor and the Violetta Valéry in La traviata . In addition to her engagement in Hamburg, Ha Young Lee has performed at the Volksoper Vienna and the Semperoper in Dresden since 2005 .
