Haageocereus lanugispinus is a species of plant in the genus Haageocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet is derived from the Latin words lanugo for 'woolly covered' and spinus for 'thorny' and refers to the tiny hairs that cover the thorns.

description

Haageocereus lanugispinus grows with semi-recumbent, green shoots radiating from the base , which reach lengths of 10 to 20 centimeters with diameters of 1.2 to 2 centimeters. There are 13 to 14 ribs that are 1.5 to 2 millimeters high. The 30 to 40 unequal, needle-like, whitish thorns are covered with fine wool. They are 3 to 5 millimeters long.

The white flowers reach a length of up to 5 centimeters.

Distribution and systematics

Haageocereus lanugispinus is common in Peru in the Ancash and Lima regions.

It was first described in 1981 by Friedrich Ritter . Haageocereus lanugispinus is not well known.
