Hadrian W. Koch

Hadrian Koch OFM (born October 28, 1944 in Großenlüder as Willibald Koch ) is a German religious and Roman Catholic theologian. From 2007 he was the last Provincial Minister of the Thuringian Franciscan Province of St. Elisabeth, before the four German provinces became one in 2010, the German Franciscan Province of St. Elisabeth , united.

Life

Willibald Koch attended the grammar school with boarding school of the Franciscans in Watersleyde (near Sittard in Holland), where he passed the Abitur in 1966. Subsequently, he joined the Franciscan order and took the religious name Hadrian. From 1966 to 1972 he studied philosophy and theology in Sigmaringen, Fulda, Münster and Munich. On March 26, 1972, he was ordained a priest in Fulda Cathedral by Bishop Adolf Bolte . At the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg he deepened his knowledge with additional studies in pastoral theology and religious education until 1975. From 1977 he worked at the grammar school in Großkrotzenburg , which had replaced the teaching institute in Watersleyde since 1967, as a teacher and until the boarding school closed in 1980 as boarding school director. In addition, he was guardian of the Franciscan monastery in Großkrotzenburg from 1985 to 1995 and between 1997 and 2007 . He worked as a general visitator in various order provinces and in this role he accompanied, for example, the merger of the Tyrolean and South Tyrolean order provinces. From April 2007 until its dissolution on July 1, 2010, he was Provincial Minister of the Thuringian Franciscan Province. Father Hadrian was also the chairman of the Franciscan Educational Organization and has held the same position in the Franciscan Education Foundation to this day.

He was also the editor of the newspapers and magazines Brother Franz and Mit Franziskus . He is the author of several books and is active in several diocesan magazines and in the magazine God's Word in the church year . Since 1981 he has been on Deutschlandradio and Deutsche Welle and since 1983 on Hessischer Rundfunk in religious radio broadcasts.

Koch has been a member of the Catholic student union KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau since 1976 .
