history

In 1539 an outwork with a customs house was built on the oat field . The village was originally located near Oats field Beheim was during the Thirty Years War to the deserted village . From 1726 to 1859 an oat field tavern was operated. It had to close in 1859 for reasons of space. Then there was a chief forester's office . In 1832, the bailiff Henneberg acquired the Gernrode monastery domain as well as the Haferfeld suburb.

At the end of the 19th century the listed building of today's Revierforsterei Haferfeld was built. It was created as a two-storey, simple brick building. The upper floor is clad with vertical planking. The windows and entrance area have been preserved in the shapes typical of the construction period. The Haferfeld forest district is part of the Saxony-Anhalt state forestry operation, where it is affiliated with the eastern Harz forestry operation.

For a short time, from 1993 to 1995, there was again a restaurant next to the forestry department.
