location

The star house is located on the state road L 243 from Gernrode to Harzgerode south of Gernrode. A total of eight paths meet at the Sternhaus, including the country road. A bus line connects the district with Gernrode, nearby there are the Sternhaus-Haferfeld and Sternhaus-Ramberg stops of the Selketalbahn .

history

In 1653 a driveway was laid out from Gernrode to the area of today's Sternhaus. The path star, made up of eight paths, was laid out around 1740 on the instructions of Prince Victor Friedrich von Anhalt-Bernburg . A few years later some buildings already existed. The first documentary mention of a wind or star shed dates back to 1744. It served as the center of the par force hunt . In 1754 a new game shed was built, which was used for grouse hunting. The building was designed as an octagonal half-timbered house. In the period between 1767 and 1771 the prince had a hunting lodge built on the site of the shed. At the same time, an octagonal round star house supported by columns was erected in half-timbered construction. The princely court in Ballenstedt organized a sleigh ride to the Sternhaus. This event was repeated in 1782. In 1784 a large hunt was carried out in the Sternhaus. An official route to the Sternhaus was laid out in 1789. In 1795 the star house was expanded. The hunting lodge was thatched until 1820 , when it was covered with wooden shingles. During the 18th century the landlord of the Sternhaus also had to supervise the Spiegelhof . A lithograph from around 1850 shows the star house with a point.

In 1891 a restaurant was set up in the Sternhaus. In 1936 a new forester's house was built at a distance of 120 meters and the previously existing unit of guest house and forester's house was dissolved. In 1961 the star house was ceded to VEB Baumaschinen Gatersleben , whereby the house remains open to the public. The innkeeper was Mr. Grüneberg for a long time.

In 1976, the striking octagonal hall was demolished due to sponge infestation. A new, but not stylish hall was built. Petra and Dieter Sedlak took over the restaurant as the new hosts. After a renovation, a new opening took place on November 30, 1987. The Sedlak family then acquired the Sternhaus in 1995.

Two-story half - timbered houses from the end of the 19th century are part of today's development . The inn has two small shield coats of arms on each of the gable ends. The oldest existing building is a farm building that was partly built in the 18th century.

The restaurant management was discontinued on October 1, 2018.
