Hagen Koch
Hagen Koch (* 1940 in Dessau ) was in 1989 commissioner for the demolition of the Berlin Wall .
Life
Hagen Koch completed an apprenticeship as a technical draftsman . He began his career as a sergeant candidate with the watch regiment "Feliks Dzierzynski" . There he was commissioned to map the boundary line of the wall .
He married his wife Elke twice. Since she had Western contacts, he divorced her in 1966 at the urging of the Ministry for State Security (MfS), but remarried her in 1967. In 1985 he was dismissed from the service of the MfS due to the completion of the service period.
After he was appointed commissioner for the protection of cultural property at the Institute for the Preservation of Monuments of the GDR , he was appointed commissioner for the demolition of the wall in 1990 by the Minister of Culture Dietmar Keller from the Hans Modrow government.
He founded the Berlin Wall Archive.
