Dietmar Keller (born March 17, 1942 in Chemnitz ) is a former German politician (SED / PDS). From 1989 to 1990 he was Minister of Culture in the GDR and from 1990 to 1994 a member of the Bundestag .

Life

The son of a mechanic completed his studies as a graduate teacher for Marxism-Leninism at the Karl-Marx-Universität Leipzig from 1962 to 1966 , where he was an assistant or senior assistant until 1970.

In 1963 he joined the SED . From 1970 to 1977 he was secretary for science and culture of the SED leadership of the Karl Marx University, then until 1984 secretary for science, popular education and culture of the SED district leadership in Leipzig. From 1982 to 1983 he studied at the Academy of Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow .

From 1984 to 1988 he was Deputy Minister of Culture, from 1988 to 1989 State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and from November 1989 to March 1990, as successor to Hans-Joachim Hoffmann in the Modrow government, Minister of Culture. After that he was a PDS member of the People's Chamber until October 1990 .

In March 1990, Keller was elected to the People's Chamber for the PDS in the Leipzig constituency and was deputy leader of the PDS parliamentary group. In October 1990 he was one of the members of the Bundestag who were sent to the Bundestag. In the Bundestag election in December 1990, Keller again entered the Bundestag via the PDS's Brandenburg state list .

From 1990 to 1994, Keller was a member of the German Bundestag's Enquete Commission on dealing with the history and consequences of the SED dictatorship in Germany . From 1994 he was a parliamentary group member of the PDS in the Bundestag. In 2002, Keller left the PDS.

From 1980 to 1995, Keller was married to the cabaret artist Gisela Oechelhaeuser for a second time , and later he married the former PDS politician Marlies Deneke .

Keller lives in Chemnitz.
