Candidate Sergeant
NCO candidate (dt. Military technical terminology ), the German standard language in most cases and in the Swiss Standard German official with joint-s NCO candidate , is a contender to a for -commissioned officers provided rank .
Notation
As is often the case in the military usage of the Bundeswehr (as is often the case in official German ), the fugue (" genitive - s " or "fugue-s") is not used formally. In the Swiss Army , on the other hand , the official spelling is “Unteroffiziersanwärter” (with “genitive s”). In civil colloquial language in the entire German-speaking area, the use of the Fugen-s has meanwhile become just as common as it is not. According to Duden , both forms are permitted.

definition
Candidates for non-commissioned officers of the Bundeswehr are soldiers who have a rank of the teams as defined in the order of the Federal President on the rank designations and the uniform of the soldiers and who belong to one of the careers of the specialist NCOs in accordance with the Soldier Career Ordinance in conjunction with ZDv 20/7 . Corresponding naval uniform wearers are usually referred to as candidates for mate . Reservists in the appropriate ranks and careers in the reserve are called reserve sergeant candidates; corresponding navy uniform wearers often as reserve mate candidates.
Depending on the context , the term non-commissioned officer candidates also includes corresponding naval uniform wearers and reservists; accordingly, the term mate candidate often also includes the reserve mate candidate.
It is a legal career classification of soldiers. With regard to salary , authority in the sense of the Superiors Ordinance , permissible and customary positions , etc., non-commissioned officers are equated with the corresponding team ranks (the corresponding military service relationships ).
Education and rank sequence
Candidates for non-commissioned officers must pass a non-commissioned officer examination before being appointed to one of the ranks of non-commissioned officers, which consists of a general military and a military-technical part (specialist non-commissioned officer examination). The several months of military training must be carried out in the form of courses . The military-related part of the NCO examination can be replaced by a usable professional qualification .
During their training, the non-commissioned officer candidates pass through the team ranks one after the other in the deadlines customary for all teams and regularly in the rank order of the lowest rank - private - corporal , as stipulated in the soldiers' career regulation . Promotion to NCO or mate usually takes place after the NCO examination and a period of service of twelve months.
- Training in the army
The training of non-commissioned officers and sergeant candidates has been carried out in three sergeant-major / sergeant- candidate battalions since January 2014 , following the example of the centralized training of officer candidates :
- Sergeant / Sergeant Candidate Battalion 1 , Sondershausen
- Sergeant / Sergeant Candidate Battalion 2 , Celle
- Sergeant / Sergeant Candidate Battalion 3 , Altenstadt and Füssen
The focus is there to learn basic military skills and the troops genus independent training for supervisors , group leaders and trainers . In addition, in the future regular unit of the sergeants, partly also in further courses in training units or troop schools , the troop -specific specialist training takes place, as other teams receive in order to be able to fill a post of the troop-type (see positions for teams ).
Rank designations and additions
Candidates for non-commissioned officers wear the normal team ranks . In correspondence , they add the suffixes "(NCO candidate)", "(NCO candidate)" or "(UA)" or "(Reserve NCO candidate)", "(Reserve NCO candidate)" or "(RUA) for short" after their rank designation. ". Accordingly, the following additions are customary for navy uniform wearers: "(Maatanwärterin)", "(Maatanwärter)" or "(MA)" or "(Reserve maat candidate)", "(Reserve maat candidate)" or "(RMA)" for short .
In contrast to the provisions of the Soldiers' Career Ordinance, brackets are often left out of the abbreviations in practice .
Rank badge

A horizontal bar on all epaulettes , sliding loops and on all sleeve badges in the same color and design as the rank badges indicates their career affiliation. Soldiers in the lowest rank wear appropriate crossbeams on otherwise empty epaulettes, sliding loops or sleeves .
Candidates for non-commissioned officers who have passed the course (UA mbL) wear loops made of 8 mm wide, light old gold metal braid on all epaulettes and slip-on loops for air force and army uniforms . The loop corresponds in color and shape of the braid to outline the epaulettes of service suit the officers in Air Force - and army uniforms.

- ↑ a b c The terms Maatanwärter and Reserve Maatanwärter are not explicitly mentioned in the Soldiers' Career Ordinance (SLV), but are based on Section 1 Clause 2 SLV, according to which, for the Navy, corresponding additions to the rank additions for Army and Air force uniform wearers are included.
- ↑ According to the Soldier Career Ordinance , the rank of corporal does not have to be completed. In practice, however, it is usually also dressed by trainee officers. The ranks of Hauptgefreiter , Stabsgefreiter and Oberstabsgefreiter can also be held by trainee officers. In practice, however, this tends to be the exception. Usually these are soldiers who only later switched from a career in the career group of the teams to one of the careers of the specialist NCOs.
- ↑ There are lower requirements for the period of service for reserve sergeants. However, they are on an equal footing with active soldiers insofar as promotions are only permitted after a period that is assumed as a minimum period of service in the employment relationship as a regular soldier .
