The rank of Oberstabsgefreiter is determined by the Federal President with the order of the Federal President on the rank designations and the uniform of the soldiers on the basis of the Soldiers Act .

Authority to command and positions

In the Federal Armed Forces, the corporal corporal is a team rank which , according to the Central Service Regulations (ZDv) 14/5 “Soldiers Act”, belongs to the rank group of the teams . Because they belong to the rank group of the teams, corporal corporations can not issue orders to anyone solely on the basis of their rank on the basis of § 4 (“Superiors relationship based on rank”) . Like all team ranks, corporal corporations cannot declare themselves to be superiors according to § 6 ("Superiors relationship based on own declaration") of the Superiors Ordinance, even in emergencies .

Staff-corporal, for example, as drivers of armored vehicles , as specially trained infantryman (such as Sniper , MILAN - steering contactors or the specialized forces ), as deputy guard commander Santander in the security service or as operator of weapon systems (eg as. Gunner armored vehicles ) or as a remanufacturer also complicated technical systems ( on-board weapons , radios , optical and electronic reconnaissance equipment , etc.). Most of the posts advertised for corporal corporations are, however, planned in staff departments . Experienced corporal corporations are often also trainers, squad leaders or (then mostly only on a transitional basis according to § 5 ("Superiors relationship based on special orders") of the Superiors Ordinance ) group leaders . Due to their experience, which mostly corresponds to the experience of Portepee NCOs, Corporals in staff are often entrusted with tasks that require considerable specialist knowledge and a high level of responsibility. On the basis of these and similar positions and areas of responsibility, corporal corporations can issue orders to all soldiers who are officially or professionally subordinate in the cases listed in the Supervisor Ordinance and within the limits specified there.

Appointment and remuneration

The relevant legal basis for the appointment as a corporal corporal is the Soldiers' Career Ordinance (SLV) and in addition the Central Service Regulations (ZDv) 20/7. Temporary soldiers and assigned reservists of the teams' careers can be appointed as corporal corporal . Soldiers can be appointed corporal corporal 48 months after entering service in the Bundeswehr. Soldiers on time must be for at least six years for the service in the armed forces are committed . Since the ranks Obergefreiter , Hauptgefreiter and Stabsgefreiter do not have to be passed, soldiers of these ranks can be promoted directly to Oberstabsgefreiter. As a rule, however, Oberstabsgefreite previously served in the rank of corporal.

Time soldiers in rank oberstabsgefreiter after the Bundesbesoldungsgesetz order (BBesO) with 5 A mA remunerated . Instead, reservists receive military pay according to the Military Pay Act .

history

On February 7, 1996, a change in the order of the Federal President on the rank designations and the uniform of soldiers created the rank of corporal corporal as the youngest rank to date. The rank was discussed for a long time, but was not abolished, because the importance of experienced teams has become known. They are no longer only used in specialist applications. Since the beginning of 2007, more and more permanent posts in the A 5 salary group with allowances have been created in order to make the career of the teams more attractive. To this end, as part of the restructuring of the Bundeswehr, many troop leader posts have been converted from non-commissioned officers or non -commissioned officers to corporal or corporal posts.

The rank badge for corporal corporal shows five diagonal stripes on both epaulettes and for naval uniform wearers on the upper sleeves

Because the corporal corporal is the top rank of the crews (see below ) and the sloping bars resemble the shape of French fries , especially in the golden yellow variant for naval uniform wearers, corporal corpses are jokingly referred to as French fries general . Due to the large number of strips for NCOs and sergeant contender is in naval uniform even one or two bars increased, the Chief Staff Corporal jokingly as NATO - Zebra referred.

Equivalent, subordinate and superior ranks

The rank of corporal corporal is held by army, air force and naval uniform carriers . In the armed forces of NATO , the corporal corporal is equivalent to all ranks with the NATO rank code OR-4. According to the NATO rank code, the rank of the German Armed Forces is comparable, for example, with the corporal of the armed forces of the United States , who is already part of the rank group of NCOs .

According to ZDv 20/7, the corporal Oberstabsgefreite is placed above the lower-ranking corporal in the career group of the teams. The Oberstabsgefreite is the highest rank of the rank group of the teams and the top rank in the team careers; Soldiers in team careers will not be promoted further in this career. There is therefore no higher rank than the Oberstabsgefreiten in these careers. According to Section 4 of the Superiors Ordinance , all non-commissioned officers without porterage whose lowest ranks are the non-commissioned officer or the flag junior (for army and air force uniforms) and the mate or midshipman (for naval uniforms) are corporal superiors within the limits defined there.

Remarks

  1. Left: Rank badge on the shoulder flap of the jacket of the service suit for army uniform wearers of the telecommunications force . Middle: Rank badge on the shoulder flap of the jacket of the service suit for Air Force uniform wearers. Right: sleeve badge on the shirt, dark blue of a navy uniform wearer ( use series 10er Seemännischer Dienst)
  2. For reasons of space, shortened captions. What is meant are army uniforms , air force uniforms and naval uniforms . The hunter-green flat braid shown next to the slip-on loop for army uniforms indicates a soldier in the armored infantry troops , infantry or special forces . In addition to the slip-on loops for the field blouse in the five-color camouflage pattern shown here on the shoulder flaps, there are a number of other types of rank insignia, which are described in more detail in the article → "Rank insignia of the Bundeswehr" .
  3. Since the Soldiers' Careers Ordinance allows the change from corporal corporal to other careers , there are also soldiers of other careers who have the rank of corporal corporal.
  4. Active soldiers can in practice be appointed as corporal corporal after 48 months of service . For reservists it applies accordingly that the transport can only take place 48 months after entering into a corresponding employment relationship. Reservists and active soldiers are treated on an equal footing insofar as the appointment to this rank for reservists does not take place earlier than for soldiers who “remained” in a different military service relationship. In this respect, reservists are treated as if they had served in the Bundeswehr without interruption. For reservists, however, the period of service is usually much shorter overall, since only a relatively few days of military service, for example in the form of military exercises, have to be performed before being appointed to a higher rank. In contrast to ranks up to the main corporal, the promotion times for corporal corporal are usually significantly exceeded; however, an eight-year contract soldier in the team career can normally expect to be promoted to this rank in the course of his service.
  5. In practice, "skipping" ranks is very rare. The prerequisite is that the other conditions of the Soldiers' Career Ordinance for the appointment to a higher rank are met, especially with regard to the length of service. As a rule, teams go through the ranks in the usual order of private , lance-corporal , lance-corporal , lance-corporal , lance-corporal .
  6. ZDv 20/7 on the basis of Section 44 of the Soldiers ' Career Ordinance ( TitelErg = Ordinance on the Careers of Soldiers (Soldiers' Career Ordinance - SLV) . March 19, 2002, Section 44 ( online [accessed on March 25, 2014] Neugefasst by Bek August 19, 2011 I 1813. Last amended by Art. 2 Paragraph 5 G of April 8, 2013 I 730). )
  7. In the order of the Federal President on the rank designations and the uniform of the soldiers , the sleeve badges are described for naval uniform wearers . For some types of suits for navy uniform wearers, however, according to central service regulation 37/10, diagonal stripes are provided on both epaulettes as for army and air force uniforms .
  8. This designation can also be found for ranks that, analogous to the four stars of the generals, have four (Hauptgefreite (UA) , the Stabsgefreite or the naval uniform bearer in the rank of Obergefreiter (FA) ) or more bars.
  9. This designation is sometimes also used for other crew ranks that have a similar number of bars (naval uniform bearers in the rank of Stabsgefreiter ( FA ) etc.)
  10. A change to another career (for example, one of the career paths of NCOs) and the subsequent appointment to a higher NCO rank is possible, but seldom.
