The Hagshu is a mountain in the Kishtwar Himalayas , a mountain region in the Western Himalayas between the Indian Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh .

The Hagshu has a height of 6515  m . It is located on the border of the two districts of Kargil and Kishtwar . The mountain lies on the watershed between Chanab and Zanskar .

Ascent history

The Hagshu was first climbed on September 9, 1989 by the two Poles Dariusz Załuski and Paweł Józefowicz without a permit.

On September 16, 1989, a British expedition ( Phil Booth , Max Halliday and Ken Hopper ) reached the summit with a permit.

On 29./30. September 2014 the Slovenian mountaineers Marko Prezelj , Luka Lindič and Aleš Česen climbed the Hagshu over its north face (ED, 70 ° –90 °, III). For this achievement they were awarded the Piolet d'Or .

On October 6, 2014, the two British Mick Fowler and Paul Ramsden climbed the Hagshu over the northeast face.
