Haidar Al-Shaïbani (born March 31, 1984 in Sétif , Algeria ) is a Canadian football player. Since 2009 he has played for the French club Olympique Nîmes .
Player career
university
From 2004 to 2007 Al-Shaïbani played for the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario . In all four years he was appointed to the Ontario University Athletics All-Star Team. In 2007 he was named Player of the Year . In addition to soccer at university, he played for the London City and North York Astros in the Canadian Soccer League .
Olympique Nîmes
In 2009 he moved to France for the second division Olympique Nîmes. He made his debut on August 25, 2009 against ES Troyes AC in a league cup match .
National team
In 2007 and 2009, Al-Shaïbani was part of the Canadian team at the Universiade . In 2007 he reached fourth place with the team in Bangkok .
On May 14, 2010 he was appointed to the squad of the Canadian national football team for two friendly matches against Argentina and Venezuela . On May 29, 2010 he made his international debut against Venezuela.
Trivia
Al-Shaïbani was born in Algeria. His father is from Iraq and his mother from Ukraine . In 1998 he emigrated to Canada.
