The Haidenspitze , formerly also called Haidenkogel , is 2975  m above sea level. A. high mountain south of the Sellraintal (in the northern Stubai Alps ) in Tyrol . Its summit is located above the Pforzheimer Hut in the ridge that borders the Gleirschtal to the west. It offers a panoramic view of the Stubai Alps, the Sellrainer Mountains , the Karwendel , the Mieminger chain and the Ötztal Alps .

Development history

When the development of the Alps began at the end of the 19th century, the brothers Adolf and Emil Witzenmann were heavily involved. They pushed ahead with the construction of the Pforzheimer Hütte (Alte Pforzheimer Hütte, today Museum Chamonna Pforzheim) in the border area between Switzerland and South Tyrol on the Schlinig Pass and thus today's access to the mountains of the southern Lower Engadine Alps between the Ofen and Reschen Pass .

After the Pforzheim alpinists lost the hut after the First World War , they set about building a "New Pforzheimer Hut" at the current location in the Gleirschtal.

Walter Witzenmann and his wife Ruth took over the inheritance from Adolf and Emil Witzenmann. As one of the co-founders of the German Alpine Association after the Second World War, Walter Witzenmann is one of the so-called "Twelve Apostles".

In the spirit of Adolf Witzenmann, who always tried to promote alpinism, Rolf Constantin, 1st Chairman of the Pforzheim Section, had the idea of ​​installing a summit cross on this panoramic mountain.

With the financial support of the Trutz von Trotha-Witzenmann family and Witzenmann GmbH , the project was implemented under the overall management of Bruno Kohl, who was also responsible for design, construction and statics. Thomas Thomsen and Hans Deeg took over the production and detailed work. The design shows two isosceles pyramid bodies that are pushed into one another. The clear geometric shape and the shiny surfaces allow the summit cross to sparkle from the sun. The summit cross was mounted on the summit from June 20 to July 2, 2009.
