Hailey Baptiste (born November 3, 2001 in Washington, DC ) is an American tennis player .

Career

Baptiste, who prefers to play on hard courts, began playing tennis at the age of four, preferring clay courts. So far she has mainly played on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour , where she has already won two titles in singles.

At the French Open 2017 she reached the last sixteen in the junior singles .

At the Mercer Tennis Classic 2018 she reached the quarter-finals, where she lost 4-6 and 4-6 to the eventual finalist Verónica Cepede Royg . At the US Open 2018 she and her partner Dalayna Hewitt reached the final of the junior doubles , which they lost 3: 6 and 2: 6 against the pairing Cori Gauff and Catherine McNally .

Baptiste made her debut on the WTA Tour at the Citi Open 2019 , where she started with a wildcard in the main draw. There she succeeded in winning her open match against her compatriot Madison Keys , who was in second place, and who she beat 7: 6, 4 and 6: 2.
