Haitz is a district of the Barbarossastadt Gelnhausen in the Hessian Main-Kinzig-Kreis . With just under 1000 inhabitants, the town to the east of the city center is the smallest district of Gelnhausen.

Haitz is located in the Kinzig valley on the edge of the Vogelsberg and the Spessart nature park.

history

On July 1, 1970, the municipality Haitz was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city of Gelnhausen incorporated .

The Protestant Church of Thanksgiving was built from 1908 to 1909 in Art Nouveau style based on plans by the Frankfurt architects Zöllner und Hallenstein. The central choir window shows Christ as the sower. The baroque pulpit comes from the castle church in Meerholz. The organ was built by the Gelnhausen company Bernhard Schmidt.
