Roth is a district of the district town of Gelnhausen in the Main-Kinzig district in southern Hesse .

geography

Roth is in southern Hesse . Two kilometers west of the main town of Gelnhausen located Situated on the Gießen-Gelnhausen railway ( Lahn-Kinzig-Bahn ) with the breakpoint Loveless , whose former auxiliary facilities mostly in the district are red, the reception building , however, is in the district Loveless (a district of the Community of Gründau ). Both places have grown together. The state road 3333 runs through the village . In the south the federal highway 66 passes.

history

Roth was first mentioned in 1173 when it came to border regulations between the Selbold monastery and the town. In the Middle Ages, viticulture was the main source of income for the inhabitants. From the Middle Ages to the 19th century, the place had forest rights (wood and hat rights ) in the Büdinger Forest . From 1821 to 1866 the village belonged to the Hessian district , from 1866 to 1945 to the Prussian district of Gelnhausen and from 1945 to 1970 to the Hessian district of Gelnhausen .

From 1920 there was electric light in the place; the supply of electrical energy came from the Kinzigmühle in Lieblos (water power).

On July 1, 1970, the municipality Roth was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city of Gelnhausen incorporated .
