The left catcher stayed there for two years before another transfer - this time to the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League - followed. On his NHL debut for the Rangers, in the game against the Montreal Maroons , Winkler managed a shutout . After only eight NHL games, he was given in January 1927 to the Boston Bruins .
