Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude ( ) was a municipality in the Dutch province of North Holland with an area of 21.19 km² and 6054 inhabitants (as of September 30, 2018). On January 1, 2019, the community was merged with Haarlemmermeer .
The construction of the Spaarnwoude recreation area has changed the municipality from a predominantly agricultural community to a place where townspeople from the Randstad come to go for walks, bike, fish, golf, enjoy nature and with them to drive the boat.
Districts
In the districts of Halfweg and Spaarndam- East there are industrial areas that are growing rapidly and are increasingly giving the formerly quiet community on the flat land its character. The municipality consists of the following districts:
- Spaarnwoude
- Spaarndam- East
- Haarlemmerlied
- Halfweg (seat of the municipal administration)

The municipality of Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude was created on September 8, 1857 through the merger of the two municipalities of Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude. The original idea was that the community should be named Haarlemmerliede. After pressure from the citizens of Spaarnwoude, the name of their municipality was finally added. After all, Spaarnwoude was also the older of the two villages and for centuries served as a center for worship and a school for the surrounding villages.
On September 27, 1863, the municipalities of Houtrijk, Polanen (Halfweg and surroundings) and Zuidschalkwijk (the current district of Schalkwijk in Haarlem Zuidoost) were added. After the reclamation of Houtrak, a part of the IJ-bay , the municipality 1874 increased by the quite large Houtrakpolder.
On May 1, 1927, the boundaries around the municipality of Haarlem were redistributed , causing it to expand considerably . The parishes of Schoten and Spaarndam went up in Haarlem. For Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude this meant the loss of the Waarderpolders and parts of the Veerpolders, the Zuiderpolders and the Romolenpolders to Haarlem.
On October 1, 1963, the rest of these polders were transferred to Haarlem. The whole village of Zuidschalkwijk became part of the municipality of Haarlem.
In 1963 and 1970 a large part of the Houtrakpolder came to the municipality of Amsterdam , which wanted to expand its port. This did not go off without conflicts: The island of Ruigoord, part of the polder, was occupied by opponents of "annexation" after the original inhabitants had been relocated. The mayor at the time, Frank IJsselmuiden , also always spoke out clearly against the expansion of the Amsterdam port area.

In 2016 it was decided to incorporate the community into Amsterdam , Haarlemmermeer or Velsen . On June 28, 2016, it was finally decided to incorporate it into Haarlemmermeer. The time of the merger was dated January 1, 2019.

Due to the merger on January 1, 2019, the elections for the council of the (new) municipality of Haarlemmermeer took place on November 21, 2018.

Pieter Heiliegers ( VVD ) was acting mayor from February 1, 2013 until the municipal dissolution , his predecessor was Bert Bruijn ( PvdA ), who had held office from 2007. The councilors Raymond van Haeften ( D66 ), Bob Graal (VVD) and the community secretary Fred Koot were among his staff .
Town twinning
Partner churches were Lanckorona in Poland and Saxilby in Great Britain .
