Halifax is a punk rock band from Thousand Oaks in California , by an appearance on the MTV telecast The Real World: Austin became known. In 2006 they won a band competition at MTV2 . You are currently under contract with Drive-Thru Records .

history

Mike Hunau and Chris Brant originally formed the band in 2002 as a pastime. After writing some songs, they started looking for more members and found them in Justin Chlowitz and the brothers Dan and Matt Locascio. The band name comes from the latter two because they had taken part in a hockey tournament in the Canadian city ​​of Halifax .

In March 2003 they recorded their first album Start Back at Start on their own , which was released in June of the same year by the indie label ECA Records . Shortly thereafter, Mike and Chris decided to end their collaboration with the other three and found new colleagues in Adam Charles, Kevin Donlon and Tommy Guindon.

In January 2004, the self-produced EP A Writer's Reference was released by No Milk Records .

Through connections to the label Drive-Thru Records - Tommy Guindon had worked there as an intern - they first had the opportunity to perform as support act for some of their bands . In July 2004 they got a contract with the label themselves. At that time Kevin Donlon left the band. He was temporarily replaced by session musicians . It wasn't until the end of 2005 that a new bass player was found in Doug Peyton.

In January 2005, Drive-Thru Records released the EP A Writer's Reference again. Then it went on several tours, u. a. the Dead by Dawn Tour with From First To Last , the Warped Tour through the States and the Drive-Thru Invasion Tours through Europe and Japan . During this time they also appeared on the MTV show The Real World , which was broadcast nationwide. From one day to the next, the band was suddenly known.

In May 2006, The Inevitability of a Strange World was released , this time recorded with a real producer. Already in the first week they sold almost 7000 recordings and came 130th on the American Billboard charts. They took the music video Our Revolution and occurred in a NBC - talk show of Carson Daly on. In December 2006, they competed in MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout band competition and won.
