From First to Last ( English for “From the first to the last”) is an American post-hardcore band. It was founded in 2002 in Los Angeles by singer Phil Reardon and his bandmates Matt Good (guitar, backing vocals), Travis Richter (screaming, guitar), Derek Bloom (screaming, drums) and Jon Weisberg (bass) . In July 2010 the group announced a longer musical break. Since November 2013 the group has been active again with a new singer.
history
Reardon left the band after recording their debut EP Aesthetic . During the recording of their first full-length album Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count , the then 16-year-old singer Sonny Moore joined them. The Los Angeles- based band was signed to Four Leaf Records and later to Epitaph Records , where they released the albums Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count and Heroine . Since March 2006, From First to Last have a record deal with Capitol Records . Today, From First to Last is under contract with the Universal Music label .
So far three releases have appeared, the EP Aesthetic and the albums Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount and Heroine . Stylistically, the band is often assigned to the genres Screamo and Emocore , as the interpretation of these two terms is increasingly deviating from their original definition.
Her songs range from slow ballads like Emily to loud, rocking songs like Failure by Designer Jeans .
On March 24, 2006, the second album Heroine was released , which was produced by Ross Robinson . On this album the bass was played by Wes Borland . During the tour in late 2005, Alicia Simmons played bass.
In February 2007 Sonny Moore left the band, the vocals were taken over by Matt Good, who was already doing the vocals on Aesthetic . Matt Manning joined as the new bass player.
The band played several concerts in 2008 as support for Kiss. In July 2010 the band announced a longer musical break. The group was only reactivated in November 2013, with Spencer Sotelo from Periphery as the new lead singer. Sotelo should remain active with both bands. At first the group tried to convince Sonny Moore to play in the band again. The group started a crowdfunding project on Kickstarter to help finance the production of an EP. After this campaign went so well, the musicians decided to record a full album straight away.
Other musical projects
The band's former singer, Sonny Moore, currently works solo under the stage name Skrillex and produces electronic music .
