The neck mosses ( Tayloria ) are a genus of deciduous mosses from the family Splachnaceae .

Surname

The generic name was named after Thomas Taylor (1786 (?) - 1848), an Irish hepaticologist and doctor from Dublin.

features

The mosses have ovate to lanceolate, pointed, whole-edged or serrated leaves with a thin-walled cell network.

The seta is usually elongated, thick, and the apophysis (neck of the capsule) is well developed, slender, and not inflated. The columella (central column in the spore capsule) often protrudes beyond the capsule mouth after the lid has been removed.

Location claims and distribution

The species settle on decomposed plant material, nitrified humus, dung and dead wood.
