The railway station, which was built in 1911/1913 and is now a listed building, is located near Meißner Straße, where the narrow-gauge Radebeul – Radeburg ( Lößnitzgrundbahn ) crosses with the Lößnitzbahn , a formerly meter-gauge cross - country tram . The Lößnitzbahn is now the Dresden tram line 4.

description

Platform platform with Lößnitzgrundbahn

The “station” consists of a massive, plastered trainman's house with a ticket office and waiting room, as well as a nearby wooden waiting hall.

The railway keeper's house was built in 1913 by the Royal Saxon State Railway Administration. It is a single-storey, massive plastered building on a rubble stone base with a low extension, the hipped roof is covered with tiles, inside two roof extensions with high triangular gables. The waiting hall is a half-open, boarded timber frame with a pent roof .

history

Gasthof "Weißes Roß", 2007. In the background on the left the stop. On the street you can see the crossing of the narrow-gauge railway (Lößnitzgrundbahn) and tram (formerly Lößnitzbahn).

On September 15, 1884, the Weißes Roß stop was put into operation with the opening of the Radebeul – Radeburg narrow-gauge railway on the single-track line. It is named after the neighboring inn "Weißes Roß" , built in 1789 . The station name is the only one on Radebeul land that has remained without a name change across all incorporations.

In 2005, the intersection of the Lößnitzgrundbahn with street and tram was rebuilt, a newly installed swivel to the east of the Lößnitzgrundbahn was primarily intended to reduce the intersection angle with the tram tracks. For the purpose of this conversion, the Lößnitzgrundbahn was shut down from October 24th to December 2nd, 2005.

Traffic importance

Currently (2008) up to eight pairs of passenger trains belonging to the Saxon Steam Railway stop at the Weißes Roß stop every day. Because it is easy to change to the Dresden tram, it is always very popular with travelers.
