Hamza Gürgüç

Hamza Gürgüç (* 1913 ; † 1988 ) was a Turkish general of the army (Türk Kara Kuvetleri) who, among other things, was commander of the 3rd Army (Üçüncü Ordu) between 1973 and 1974 and director of the national intelligence service MIT ( Millî İstihbarat Teşkilâtı ) was.

Life

After attending school, Gürgüç completed an officer training at the Army School ( Harp Okulu ) , which he completed in 1933. He then found employment as an officer and staff officer in numerous units of the army. After his promotion to Brigadier General (Tuğgeneral) he became Deputy Military Representative of Turkey at the headquarters of the Allied Land Forces of NATO in Southern Europe LANDSOUTH ( Allied Land Forces Southern Europe ) in Verona . After his return to Turkey in 1965 he was appointed major general (Tümgeneral) and commanding general of the XV. Corps (XV. Kolordu) before he became deputy head of the personnel department at the Army Headquarters in 1966 .

After his promotion to lieutenant general (co- general ) in 1967 he became a military representative of Turkey in the general staff of the Central Pact Organization ( Central Treaty Organization ) and after his return in 1968 head of the intelligence department in the general staff of Turkey and most recently in 1969 commanding general of the 3rd Army belonging to the VIII. Corps (VIII. Kolordu) in Elazığ . After his promotion to general (Orgeneral) in 1970 he became a member of the Supreme Military Council YAŞ (Yüksek Askeri Şura) and then as successor to General Eşref Akıncı on March 7, 1973 commander of the 3rd Army (Üçüncü Ordu) , which from the VIII. Corps and IX. Corps exists. He held this post until August 30, 1974 and was then replaced by General Namık Kemal Ersun .

Most recently Gürgüç was on November 25, 1974 as the successor to Lieutenant General Bülent Türker Director of the National Intelligence Service MIT ( Millî İstihbarat Teşkilâtı ) . He held this position until July 13, 1978 and was then replaced by General Adnan Ersöz .
