The Handsley Valley is a small and ice-free valley in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Quartermain Mountains , it is between Mount Handsley and the Knobhead .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named it in 1993 based on the name of Mount Handsley. Its namesake is Petty Officer Jesse Handsley (1876-1916) of the Royal Navy , a participant in the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) led by the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott , who together with Scott and four other participants in 1903 a Explored the Ferrar and Taylor glaciers .
