Hanna Rosin

Hanna Rosin (* 1970 in Israel ) is an American journalist and author .

Life

Rosin came to the United States with her family at the age of five. She grew up in a working-class neighborhood in the Queens borough of New York City and graduated from Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan in 1987 . She studied comparative literature at Stanford University in Stanford (California) . She then went to Israel for a year and then worked for a short time at a law magazine in New Jersey .

By a stroke of luck, Rosin got an internship at The New Republic magazine , which she ultimately stayed with for the next five years. She became an assistant to Michael Kinsley and then was part of the early 1990s among the editors who worked under editors Andrew Sullivan and Michael Kelly. The Stephen Glass affair is one of her painful memories of her time at The New Republic , when she also wrote for Gentlemen's Quarterly (GQ) and New York magazine.

Rosin worked on religion for the Washington Post and wrote a report on a Christian college for The New Yorker in 2005 . Her research formed the basis for her first book: God's Harvard: A Christian College on a Mission to Save America . She has been a correspondent for The Atlantic since 2009 , mainly on American culture. In 2010 the report The End of Men appeared there , which was published as a book in 2012. Other topics in The Atlantic included: B. 2009 a provocative article The Case against Breast Feeding and in the same year Boy's Life about a boy who had undergone a sex reassignment . In 2009/10, New York Magazine printed a series of articles on the subject of circumcision , which won a National Magazine Award .

Since 2009 Rosin has lived in Washington, DC with her husband David Plotz , publisher of the online magazine Slate , and the couple's three children. She writes the podcast column DoubleX for Slate every two weeks .
