Hannes Wagner (born June 16, 1995 ) is a German wrestler .
Career
Hannes Wagner from Klosterlangheim started wrestling when he was six years old at AC Lichtenfels . He focused on the Greco-Roman style. At AC Lichtenfels he was mainly trained by Tobias Schütz. As an adult, the blonde athlete weighs around 85 kg and is 1.82 meters tall. After graduating from high school, he joined the Bavarian police and is z. Currently a member of a sports support group in Würzburg.
He won his first medal at a German championship in 2007 in the so-called C-Youth in the weight class up to 42 kg body weight. In 2011 he became German A youth champion in the weight class up to 69 kg. In the junior division, he was also German champion in 2012 in the A youth (up to 76 kg), in 2014 in the juniors (up to 74 kg) and in 2015 again in the juniors (up to 74 kg). In the senior class, Hannes Wagner was German champion in the weight class up to 80 kg in 2017 and in the weight class up to 82 kg in 2018.
He made his first start in an international championship in 2011 at the European Junior Championships (Cadets) in Warsaw in the weight class up to 69 kg. He took 13th place. His next start in an international championship took place at the Junior European Championship (Juniors) 2014 in Katowice, where he took a good 5th place in the weight class up to 74 kg. The same place he took in the same year in the same weight class at the Junior World Championships (Juniors) in Zagreb.
In March 2015 he competed for the first time in a U23 European Championship in Walbrzych, although he was only 20 years old. In the weight class up to 75 kg he lost his first fight against Petru Sevciuk from Moldova and only finished 14th. Three months later, in June 2015, he surprised the wrestling world at the Junior European Championship (Juniors) in Istanbul, when he became Junior European Champion in the weight class up to 74 kg with four victories in a superior style. In the semifinals he defeated Gela Bolkwadze from Georgia and in the final Furkan Bayrak from Turkey. At the Junior World Championships (Juniors) that same year in Salvador da Bahia, he won a bronze medal in the weight class up to 74 kg.
In the following years he achieved very good places at various championships, but could not win any medals. In May 2016 he wrestled in the German national relay at the Team World Cup in Shiraz (Iran), but lost his fights in the weight class up to 80 kg against Ashkat Dilmuchamedow from Kazakhstan, Ramasan Abacharajew, Russia, Pawel Paminchuk, Belarus and Jaroslaw Filchakow, Ukraine, all world class wrestlers. At the 2019 European Championships in Bucharest he was very close to winning such a medal in the weight class up to 82 kg. After a narrow point defeat against Rajbek Bisultanow from Denmark (4: 5) he came in the consolation round to a point victory over the former vice world champion Wiktor Sasunowski from Belarus, but was again very narrowly defeated in the fight for one of the bronze medals against Emrah Kus from Turkey (1: 2).
At the 2020 European Championships in Rome, he started again in the weight class up to 82 kg. He won in Rome over Filip Sacic, Croatia and Andrii Antoniuk from Ukraine, lost in the semi-finals against Daniel Alexandrow Tihomirow from Bulgaria on points and finally won the battle for one of the bronze medals against Stanislau Schafarenka from Belarus, who previously u. a. the reigning world champion Lascha Gobadze from Georgia had eliminated on points.
