Hannibal von Hertzberg

Hannibal Freiherr von Hertzberg (born April 16, 1783 ; † April 23, 1866 ) was a Prussian Landwehr major, director of the Naumburg-Zeitz Monastery and a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Saxony .

He came from the Thuringian noble family von Hertzberg, who had been raised to the baron status . Like many members of his family, he also embarked on a military career and rose to major in the Landwehr in the Prussian army.

In 1829 Hannibal Freiherr von Hertzberg was elected as a member of the state parliament of the Prussian province of Saxony . His constituency, which he represented in the rank of knighthood, was the Naumburg-Zeitz monastery, in which he had been appointed monastery director. His two deputies were the manor owner von Haugk zu Silbitz in the Zeitz district and Count von der Schulenburg on Zangenberg zu Beetzendorf in the Altmark . Hannibal Freiherr von Hertzberg also belonged to the fourth electoral term of the state parliament of the Prussian province of Saxony in Merseburg from 1833 . At the beginning of 1853 he left the Prussian provincial parliament and left the mandate to his son, Baron von Hertzberg junior (born February 16, 1817), who was also the new owner of the Heuckewalde manor in the Zeitz district, which Hannibal Freiherr von Hertzberg had previously owned .
