Hanns-Kristian Rjosk (born October 17, 1943 in Görlitz , † August 20, 2007 in Ebbs , Austria ) was a German physician and pioneer in the field of reproductive medicine .

Life

Hanns-Kristian Rjosk studied human medicine in Munich and Bern and was a member of the Christian student associations Münchener Wingolf and, for two semesters abroad, Zähringia Bernensis. Later he joined the Wingolf in Vienna. From 1966 to 1970 he worked in H. Dannenberg's group at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry, where he was awarded a Dr. med graduated. In 1972 he joined the I. University Women's Clinic in Munich as an assistant specializing in gynecology . In an interdisciplinary working group together with the Department of Endocrinology at the Medical Clinic in Munich, he achieved extensive clarification of the pathophysiology, diagnosis and therapy of hyperprolactinemic sterility as well as essential elements of the physiology and pathophysiology of lactation. Important colleagues were Kurt Holzmann and later Richard Goebel, Harald Mickan and Dieter Berg. With numerous contributions, Rjosk has published essential findings on the role of prolactin under physiological and pathological conditions.

In 1977 Rjosk received specialist certification, became senior clinical physician in 1979 and completed his habilitation in 1981 on the subject of hyper-prolactinemic sterility: clinic, endocrine findings, therapy. Also in 1981 he received the Schoeller-Junkmann Prize from the German Society for Endocrinology for his scientific achievements in this field . After studying at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne in 1983, Rjosk and three colleagues founded the first IVF working group in Munich. In 1984 he was appointed C2 professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University .

From 1985 he set up a private institute for reproductive medicine , from which today's hormone center at the opera developed. In 1987 he finally left the clinic to devote himself to this activity.

From 1993 to 1995 he was also head of the German IVF Register, which was founded in the early 1980s. In cooperation with the Medical Association Westphalia-Lippe and an IT company, he tried to improve the input software. However, due to financial restrictions, this was only partially successful. The Bavarian-Hungarian Society for Reproductive Medicine was established on his initiative .
