Hans-Christoph Hoppensack

Hans-Christoph Hoppensack (* 1939 in Kiesewald , Hirschberg district , Silesia ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). He was a Bremen State Councilor .

biography

Hoppensack is the son of an insurance salesman and a bank clerk, grew up in Silesia , Scheeßel , the Rotenburg district and in Bremen . In 1959, after graduating from high school in Bremen, he studied law and social education at the University of Hamburg from 1959 to 1965 . From 1965 to 1969 he completed his legal clerkship in Bremen and Berlin . In 1968 he received his doctorate. jur. and passed the second state examination in law in 1969.

1969/1970 he worked as a youth prosecutor in Bremerhaven . In 1970 he switched to the Senator for Social Affairs, Youth and Sport in Bremen and took the position of a consultant for social welfare . From 1972 to 1979 he was head of the social welfare office in Bremen. In 1979 he was appointed Senate Director or State Councilor to the (most recently) Senator for Labor, Women, Health, Youth and Social Affairs and until the end of 2000 he was the representative of Senators Henning Scherf (SPD), Sabine Uhl (SPD) and Irmgard Gaertner -Fichtner (SPD), Christine Wischer (SPD) and Hilde Adolf (SPD). Arnold Knigge succeeded him in this position .

Hoppensack is a member of the SPD and is active there in various bodies, most recently for around 25 years in the state arbitration commission. His professional and political priorities were and are social policy, in particular social and youth welfare, health policy, but also housing policy and the penal system with assistance to offenders.
He worked on supraregional committees: from 1973 to 1990 as a member of the specialist committee on social policy at the Federal Association of Workers' Welfare , from 1980 to 2000 as a member of the social committee of the German Association of Cities , from 1987 to 2000 as a member of the specialist committee of the German Association for Public and Private Welfare and in their main committee, from 1979 to 2000 in various committees of the Federal Council . From 1988 to 2001 he was on the board of trustees of the Franco-German Youth Office as representative of the youth ministers and senators of the federal states.

In addition, he works or worked on a voluntary basis on the board of the Bremen Community Foundation (until 2014 as chairman of the board), as a member of the boards of the Weserterrassen community center , Wilhelm Kaisen Bürgerhilfe and Arbeiterwohlfahrt Bremen (AWO). For several years he has been particularly interested in democracy politics. Here he is jointly responsible for the Bremen network of citizen participation and the initiative "Democracy begins with us", both projects of the Bremen Community Foundation.

When he's not on a voluntary basis, he likes to try his hand at painting and drawing.
