Hans-Georg Knopp

Hans-Georg Knopp (born January 13, 1945 in Bernburg ) is a German humanities scholar and cultural manager.

Life

From 1966 to 1974 Hans-Georg Knopp studied theology , religious studies , Indology , Arabic studies , sociology and political science in Tübingen , Vienna , Marburg and Gießen . In 1974 he was in the subject Indology at the University of Marburg Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1974 to 1996, Hans-Georg Knopp worked for the Goethe Institute in Bombay , Colombo , Jakarta , Singapore , Chicago and Munich . From 1996 to 2002 he was Secretary General and from 2002 to 2005 Artistic Director at the House of World Cultures in Berlin . From 2005 to 2012 he was Secretary General of the Goethe Institute in Munich.

Hans-Georg Knopp is married and has two children.
