Hans-Georg Pries (* 1919 in Kiel - Elmschenhagen ; † September 12, 2005 ) was a German police officer .

Pries was the son of a customs officer. From 1945 he trained with the police and was then with the murder commission of the criminal police until 1952 and then switched to the police force . In 1954 he was promoted from police chief to commissioner and shortly thereafter to the police council. His argument with Interior Senator Helmut Schmidt on the occasion of a Rolling Stones concert in 1965 was legendary. In 1970, as Police Director, Pries became the Police Director of the Police in Hamburg , most recently as State Police Director of the Police and Deputy Police Chief of Hamburg until 1979. In 1974 he made derogatory comments about long-haired and unkempt-looking police officers and called them “dirty parcels”. In this role he became known to a wide public.

Pries was married and had three children. He lived in Tornesch . He died in September 2005 at the age of 86.
