Hans Georg Wagner (born November 26, 1938 in Sankt Wendel - Niederlinxweiler , Saarland ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

From 2002 to 2005 he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Defense .

education and profession

After attending grammar school and vocational school , Wagner attended the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences . Here he completed his studies as a graduate - Engineering - Department of Architecture (FH). He then worked as a civil servant at the State Building and Clinic Construction Office in Saarbrücken .

Hans Georg Wagner is married and has one son.

Political party

Wagner has been a member of the SPD since 1957, and has been deputy state chairman of the SPD in Saarland since 1990.

MP

From 1974 Wagner was a member of the Eppelborn municipal council ; from 1975 to 1991 he was a member of the state parliament of Saarland . From 1975 to 1990 he was parliamentary manager and deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group .

From 1990 to 2005 he was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1998 to 2002 he was chairman of the budget working group of the SPD parliamentary group .

Hans Georg Wagner has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Sankt Wendel constituency .

Public offices

After the federal elections in 2002 , Wagner was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Defense on October 27, 2002 in the federal government led by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder . After the general election in 2005 , he left office on November 22, 2005.

Honorary positions

Wagner has been volunteering for the Association of German Builders, Architects and Engineers (BDB) since 1981 and was its president for 20 years. In 2019 he was elected honorary president of the BDB.
