Hans-Jürgen "Hansi" Müller (born January 7, 1962 in Zweibrücken ) is a former German handball player .
Career
Müller started playing handball at the age of six. As an A-youth, he moved from VT Zweibrücken to Bundesliga club TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen in 1980 . On December 7th, the right winger played his first Bundesliga game in the away game at TSV Milbertshofen . Nevertheless, he was mainly used in the second team. In 1982 he joined the regional league club VfL Hameln , with whom he was able to celebrate promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . A year later, promotion to the Bundesliga was only just missed. In 1984, Müller switched to the reigning German champions and cup winners TV Großwallstadt . With the club he became cup winner and runner- up in 1987 . After he could not play a game in the 1987/88 season due to a serious back injury, he went to TSV Milbertshofen, but stayed only six months and joined SG Wallau / Massenheim . In the 1990/91 season he played for VfL Heppenheim and then moved back to VT Zweibrücken.
After Müller was temporarily not nominated for the junior national team for disciplinary reasons, a similar fate befell him after the senior team traveled to Romania in November 1982. He had violated a smoking ban imposed by national coach Simon Schobel . He made his debut on June 29, 1983 against Romania in the Yugoslavian town of Kragujevac . In total, he completed 45 international matches, in which he scored 65 goals. Müller was part of the DHB squad for the 1989 B World Cup.
