Hans-Joachim Laesicke

Hans-Joachim Laesicke (born March 31, 1954 in Eberswalde ) is a German politician . From 1993 to 2018 he was full-time mayor of Oranienburg , a city in the north of Brandenburg .

Life

Born in Eberswalde in 1954 and raised in Britz , Laesicke graduated from high school in Eberswalde in 1972 . In 1978 he successfully completed his law studies at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . From 1978 to 1982 Laesicke worked in the legal department of Deutsche Außenhandelsbank AG in Berlin . He then worked as legal advisor for VEB Tiefbau Oranienburg until 1990 .

Laesicke joined the citizens' movement Neues Forum in October 1989 and became a member of the Social Democratic Party in the GDR in January 1990 (from September 1990 Social Democratic Party of Germany , SPD). As part of the local elections in the GDR in 1990 , he was elected to the city ​​council of Oranienburg. Subsequently, he was defeated by his opponent Udo Semper in the election for mayor of Oranienburg, but became first alderman , city ​​treasurer and economic and legal department head for the city .

In December 1993, Laesicke was finally elected full-time mayor of Oranienburg. He also emerged victorious in the subsequent mayoral elections in 2001 and 2009. For the “preservation of the Dutch Orange heritage ” in Oranienburg, Laesicke was awarded the knight level of the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2016 on behalf of the King of the Netherlands . On January 8, 2018, he handed over the office of mayor of Oranienburg to his son Alexander Laesicke , who had won the mayoral election in 2017; Hans-Joachim Laesicke was no longer running. In September 2018 he announced his exit from the SPD.
