The Hans Ludwig Neumann Observatory (HLN), also known as the Neumann Observatory , located near Glashütten in the Hochtaunus district in southern Hesse , is an observatory opened in 1998 on the Kleiner Feldberg in the Taunus low mountain range . The operator is the Astronomical Working Group of the Physikalischer Verein based in Frankfurt am Main . At the International Astronomical Union , the observatory has the code B01 .

Geographical location

The Hans-Ludwig-Neumann-Observatory is in the municipal area of Glashütten at 825.2  m above sea level. NHN high Kleinen Feldberg . Next door is the Taunus Observatory as one of several facilities on the summit region .

History and description

The Hans-Ludwig-Neumann-Observatory was opened in 1998 and is named after Hans-Ludwig Neumann (1938–1991; former chairman of the Physikalischer Verein). The Cassegrain telescope has a mirror diameter of 0.6 m. 87 asteroids were discovered by May 2014  , including (204852) Frankfurt .
