Hans-Peter Neuhaus (born June 18, 1945 in Stebbach, Heilbronn ) is a former handball national player from Dortmund . Between 1966 and 1972, the backcourt player played 79 international matches and scored 41 goals. (He is sometimes listed as Peter Neuhaus in player lists.) The high point of his sports career was his participation in the Olympic premiere of indoor handball at the 1972 Summer Games in Munich , where it was used in all six games of the German national team. After his active time as a player, Hans-Peter Neuhaus also worked as a coach in the handball league and now works as a youth coach.

Athletic career

Hans-Peter Neuhaus began his sporting career in 1961 in the handball department of ÖSG Viktoria 08 Dortmund and played in the district, Westphalia and junior teams. It was a little sensation in German handball that he received an invitation to international matches as a district league player in 1965. This was followed by a career in the national team and as a Bundesliga player at TuS 05 Dortmund-Wellinghofen , where he was active from 1966 to 1976. It was still common until 1972 that field handball was played in the summer and indoor handball in the winter season. There was a two-pronged Bundesliga for both types of play. With his parent club, Hans-Peter Neuhaus was runner-up in the field handball Bundesliga in the 1971 season and the indoor handball Bundesliga in the 1973/74 season .

Hans-Peter Neuhaus took part in the 1970 World Cup in France , where the selection took 5th place. After the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, in which the selection took 6th place, Hans-Peter Neuhaus ended his international career.

After completing his active time as a player, Hans-Peter Neuhaus became a renowned handball coach. He coached the OSC Dortmund from 1976 to 1982 and from 1987 to 1992 and led the club in the 1980/81 season, if only for one season, in the 1st Bundesliga. He was also successful at TSC Eintracht Dortmund (1982-1987) and HSG Schwerte / Westhofen (1992-1998), which he led from lower leagues to the regional league. Despite the professional demands as a housing authority manager in Dortmund, he still worked regularly as a base trainer in the youth sector. In retirement, he expanded this activity again and took over the training of the A-youth of the OSC Dortmund for the 2012/13 season. In the 2016/17 season he made promotion to the Association League with this team.
