Hans-Werner Kock (born March 15, 1930 in Hamburg , † May 24, 2003 in Berlin ) was a German journalist and television presenter .

At first Kock worked at Radio Bremen , but in 1958 he switched to the Sender Freies Berlin (SFB) in Berlin , where he became a well-known radio presenter with the programs Berolina , Echo am Morgen and Echo am Mittag . His legendary farewell formula "Do it well, neighbors!", A variation of the " Abendlied " by Matthias Claudius , made Kock a cult figure in the divided city of Berlin. The greeting was understood both as a call to East Berlin spectators beyond the Wall and as an expression of the feeling of togetherness on the "island" of West Berlin .

The comedian Kurt Krömer uses Kock's saying "Do it well, neighbors!" In his stage programs.

In his free time he was involved in the German Life Saving Society (DLRG) Landesverband Berlin e. V. From 1976 to 1986 he was head of public relations and press spokesman and from 1986 to 1989 its president.
