Hans Albers (Manager)

Hans Albers (born March 4, 1925 in Lingen (Ems) ; † October 14, 1999 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a German chemist and, as an industrial manager, chairman of the board of BASF from 1983 to 1990 .

Life

Albers attended high school in his hometown of Lingen . After high school , he studied chemistry at the University of Münster and graduated with the doctorate to the Dr. rer. nat. from. After completing his academic training, Albers joined the main laboratory of BASF AG in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in 1953 . In 1955 he switched to group production, in 1962 he took over the management of the special products department. In 1964 he was appointed deputy director and in 1967 he was appointed head of the intermediates division.

In 1967 Albers moved to the board of the BASF subsidiary Phrix-Werke AG, Hamburg , where he was entrusted with responsibility for production. In 1972 he returned to Ludwigshafen and took over the management of BASF's dyes and auxiliaries division as director . In 1974 he was promoted to deputy board member and head of the then dyes, chemicals and dispersions department . Two years later, in 1976, he became a full member of the BASF Board of Executive Directors. On April 1, 1982 he became Chairman of the Board of Management of BASF AG. He was succeeded in 1990 by Jürgen Strube .
