Hans Albrecht Moser (born September 7, 1882 in Gorizia , Austria-Hungary , † November 27, 1978 in Bern ) was a Swiss writer .

Life

Hans Albrecht Moser was born in 1882 as the son of the factory owner Johann Adolf Moser, a Swiss abroad , in Gorizia, today's Gorizia, which at that time belonged to the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy . When he was 15 years old, his family moved to Switzerland, where he graduated from high school in Bern. He then studied music in Basel, Cologne and Berlin. From 1911 he worked as a piano teacher in Bern. Moser belonged to Hermann Hesse's circle of friends , who let him appear in his story Die Morgenlandfahrt under the pseudonym Hans Resom . With the exception of a few short stays abroad - for example in Worpswede or Rome - Moser lived in Bern until his death.

Moser came late to writing. His first work , the narrative and aphorism volume Die Komödie des Lebens , appeared in 1926. In his main literary work Vineta , published in 1955 , the over 1000-page "novel from ancient times in two parts", Moser outlines a pessimistic picture of Swiss and European society Post war period .

Moser's works mostly contain diary texts, aphorisms and narratives, whereby he deliberately does not draw any clear boundaries between them.

In 1971 he was awarded the City of Bern's Literature Prize .
