Hans August Lassen

Hans August Lassen (born December 12, 1857 in Hadersleben , Duchy of Schleswig ; † 1938 in Ratingen , Düsseldorf-Mettmann district ) was a German-Danish portrait , still life and genre painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Lassen attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1881 to 1887. Peter Janssen the Elder , Hugo Crola and Heinrich Lauenstein were his teachers there. He was noted in the Academy's student lists as "very talented". It was also recorded that he was forced to provide for his own living. Therefore, he only appeared irregularly in the class for a few semesters. Lassen specialized in the representation of tavern scenes, wine tastings, men's and game rounds; Also known is an oil painting (knee, standing) of Prince Otto von Bismarck from 1885 . Lassen lived in Düsseldorf until 1910 , then in Ratingen.
